Mines and Mining in the Black Hills, by Burlington and Missouri River Railroad Company, Passenger Department, Burlington route, 1901

-----

June 28, 1894 William B. Franklin a/k/a Rocky Mountain Frank and Tom Blair were the original locators of the Holy Terror mine in Keystone. The ill fated Holy Terror mine of Keystone has kept it's fabulous wealth as over 11 deaths and persistent flooding has closed the mine for extended periods 1905 - 1924, 1927 - 1934, 1936-1937 and its final closure in 1942.

This eerily rich and dangerous mine has been referred to as the Lost Dutchman of SD.

The photograph of miners drilling at 1,000 feet down in the Holy Terror Mine was taken circa 1902 or earlier.
